One of the eight branches
Classical Ayurveda has eight branches, and Rasayana — often translated as rejuvenation — is one of them. Its focus is on nourishment, resilience and healthy ageing, through diet, routine, conduct and preparations the physician prescribes.
Classical texts recommend that Rasayana follows cleansing, so some guests combine it with a shorter Panchakarma, while others choose Rasayana on its own as a gentler stay.
What a programme includes
Daily oil massage (abhyanga), often shirodhara or herbal-bolus massages, chosen by the physician.
Warm, freshly cooked meals shaped to your constitution, often with ghee, milk and seasonal produce.
Classical Rasayana formulations such as Chyawanprash are prescribed individually, never as a package.
The “conduct” of rejuvenation: kindness, calm, regular sleep and moderation, which the texts treat as part of the programme.

Who it suits
- Guests who want a restful Ayurvedic stay rather than an intensive one

Questions guests ask
What is the difference between Rasayana and Panchakarma?
Panchakarma is cleansing and intensive; Rasayana is nourishing and gentle. The texts often place Rasayana after cleansing, but you can choose Rasayana on its own.
Can I take Rasayana preparations home?
Only if the physician prescribes them for you. Keep the prescription, check your country’s rules for bringing herbal products in, and tell your own doctor.
