Planning your stay

What is Massvaa Care Wellness?

Our wellness service arranges stays in India’s traditional health systems — Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Unani, Siddha and Sowa-Rigpa — at vetted centres, with a personal concierge.

How far in advance should I plan?

Four to eight weeks is comfortable: time for a consultation, the visa and flights. For Kerala in December and January, or the monsoon season, allow longer.

How long should I stay?

Most guests stay one to three weeks. Classical Ayurvedic programmes such as Panchakarma usually need two weeks or more. The practitioner recommends a length after consulting you.

Can I travel with my partner or family?

Yes. Companions can join the programme, choose a lighter one of their own, or simply stay with you. Tell your concierge who is travelling.

I have never tried any of this. Where do I start?

Start with a conversation with your concierge. We will ask what you hope for, suggest a tradition and a place, and arrange a video consultation with a practitioner before you commit.

Practitioners & safety

Are the practitioners qualified?

We work with centres whose practitioners are registered with the relevant Indian council for their system, and we prefer NABH-accredited AYUSH centres.

Can wellness replace my medical treatment?

No. Wellness programmes are complementary and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a medical doctor. Keep your own doctor informed and never stop a prescribed medicine without their advice.

I have a health condition. Can I still come?

Often yes, but we ask you to complete a health questionnaire and have a video consultation first. Some programmes are not suitable with certain conditions or medicines, and the practitioner will say so.

Can I ask for a therapist of the same gender?

Yes. We confirm your preference with the centre in writing before you book.

What happens if I feel unwell during my stay?

The centre’s physician assesses you, and if needed we arrange care at a hospital through Massvaa Care Medical. In an emergency, the centre calls local emergency services first.

Visa & travel

Which visa do I need for a wellness stay?

India offers a dedicated AYUSH visa for treatment in traditional systems. Your concierge confirms the right category for your plan and passport.

Can I come on a tourist visa?

A short yoga retreat or a spa-style stay may fit a tourist visa. A course of treatment in an AYUSH system is what the AYUSH visa is for. Always check the official portal, and ask your concierge.

Do you arrange airport transfers?

Yes. Your concierge coordinates transfers from the airport to your centre and back, and any transfers between cities.

Is India safe for solo women travellers at retreats?

We work with centres used to hosting international women guests, arrange trusted transfers, and your concierge is a message away throughout your stay.

Costs & booking

How much does a wellness stay cost?

Prices depend on the centre, the room, the programme and the length of stay, and are confirmed by the centre in writing before you book. We do not publish prices that centres have not confirmed.

Does Massvaa Care charge for its wellness service?

Yes. Massvaa Care charges a service fee for concierge coordination, which your concierge explains in writing before you proceed. The centre’s programme is priced separately.

What is usually included?

Most programme prices include the consultation, therapies, meals and accommodation. Herbal preparations, transfers, extra nights and excursions vary. Your written plan lists exactly what is and is not included.

Food & daily life

What is the food like?

Usually vegetarian, freshly cooked and adapted to your programme. Centres can often arrange halal, Jain, gluten-free and other diets on request; we confirm them in writing.

Can I use my phone and work?

Yes, but most programmes work best with rest. Many centres ask for quiet hours, and some encourage a digital detox.

What should I pack?

Loose cotton clothing, a light shawl or layer, slip-on shoes, a swimsuit for some hydrotherapies, your medicines with prescriptions, and old underwear for oil therapies. See our guide to your stay for the full list.

Is alcohol allowed?

Most centres ask you not to drink during a programme, and some towns, such as Rishikesh, do not sell alcohol at all.

Combining with medical treatment

Can I combine wellness with my treatment?

Yes, as a recovery stay after your treatment, and only once your treating doctor has given written clearance. Wellness programmes never replace medical treatment.

Can my attendant use wellness services while I am in hospital?

Yes. Attendants can book yoga, consultations or massages near the hospital, arranged around your care.

Who coordinates between the hospital and the centre?

Your medical coordinator and your wellness concierge work from the same plan. With your consent, they share your discharge summary and your surgeon’s instructions with the centre.
