Answers to help you prepare for your medical journey to India
1. How do I pay the hospital for my treatment?
You pay the hospital directly. You can pay using international credit/debit cards, cash (foreign currency like USD, Euros, or Indian Rupees depending on local regulations), or via bank wire transfer directly to the hospital's official account.
2. How long does a wire transfer take to clear in India?
International bank wire transfers typically take 3 to 5 business days to clear in the hospital's account. We recommend initiating wire transfers at least one week before your travel date and sharing the swift copy with us so we can coordinate pre-admission clearance with the hospital.
3. Can I use my local health insurance in India?
Many major hospitals in India have tie-ups with international insurance providers. However, coverage depends on your specific policy and whether the hospital is in-network. Cashless treatment is rarely available immediately for international insurance, and patients often have to pay upfront and claim reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurer and hospital admission desk before travel.
4. What happens if my treatment cost changes from the initial estimate?
Initial estimates are indicative and based on your pre-travel reports. The final bill is determined by the treating specialists after physical examination and diagnostics. If complications arise or a different procedure is clinically necessary, the cost may change. The hospital is required to inform you or your attendant before proceeding with major cost additions.
5. Are there any hidden fees in my treatment estimate?
No. The estimates provided on hospital letterhead list the inclusions (surgeons' fees, standard stay, medicines during stay) and exclusions (implants, ICU stay beyond estimated days, extra diagnostics). We review these details with you prior to departure to ensure full clarity.
6. Does Massvaa Care charge for airport pickup and transport?
No, airport pickup and coordinate transport between your accommodation and the partner hospital are included in our facilitation services at no extra charge to the patient.
7. Do you provide language interpreters?
Yes. We coordinate with dedicated interpreters fluent in Russian, French, and Arabic to assist patients from Central Asia and Africa. The interpreter will accompany you to consultations and help translate communications with the medical team.
8. Is there an extra cost for interpreter services?
No. Basic language facilitation during hospital hours and consultations is provided at no cost. If you require a full-time private interpreter outside of clinical coordination, extra charges may apply.
9. How long do I need to stay in India after my surgery?
The stay duration varies by procedure. For example, joint replacements require 10–14 days post-discharge for physical therapy and a fit-to-fly evaluation, while minor procedures may require only 3–5 days. Your treating surgeon will issue a Fit-to-Fly certificate when it is safe for you to travel.
10. Can Massvaa Care book my flights?
We do not book flights directly. However, we assist you in identifying the best routes, coordinating flight dates with your hospital admission schedule, and preparing necessary documentation for immigration.
11. How do I get an Indian Medical Visa?
Once you confirm your treatment plan, the partner hospital will issue an official Visa Invitation Letter (VIL) on their letterhead. You must upload this VIL when applying for an Indian Medical Visa online or at the nearest Indian Mission.
12. What is an e-Medical Visa?
The e-Medical Visa is an online visa application available to citizens of eligible countries. It is typically granted within 3 to 5 business days and allows triple entry into India for a stay of up to 60 days. It must be applied for at least one week before travel.
13. What is FRRO registration?
Under Indian immigration rules, foreign nationals staying in India for more than 180 days on a medical visa must register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival. We coordinate the online paperwork for you.
14. Can a family member accompany me?
Yes. Up to two family members or attendants can accompany you. They must apply for a Medical Attendant Visa (MX) which has the same validity as your medical visa.
15. Are Pakistani nationals eligible for an e-Visa?
No. Pakistani nationals cannot apply for an e-Visa and must apply for a physical visa at an Indian Mission. They are also subject to mandatory police reporting and registration within 24 hours of arrival in India.
16. Who makes the clinical decisions regarding my treatment?
All clinical evaluations, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and surgical decisions are made solely by the qualified specialists at the treating partner hospital. Massvaa Care does not interfere with or influence clinical decisions.
17. What happens if I experience complications after surgery?
If clinical complications occur while you are in India, the treating hospital team will manage your care. We coordinate with the hospital administration to ensure clear communication and support for your attendants. Post-discharge care escalation is managed in coordination with your treating surgeon.
18. How does Massvaa Care verify hospital accreditations?
We verify the JCI (Joint Commission International) or NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) status of our partner facilities by checking the official public registries of these boards. We list the accreditation status on each hospital page.
19. What accommodation options are available near the hospitals?
We maintain a list of verified guest houses, service apartments, and hotels located within 2–5 kilometers of our partner hospitals. These options cater to different budgets, feature basic kitchen facilities for attendants, and offer hygienic environments suitable for post-operative recovery.
