Medical Travel from Tanzania
India is a primary medical destination for patients from Tanzania due to access to accredited clinical expertise, advanced medical technology, and transparent hospital package rates in Delhi NCR.
Visa Rules for Tanzanian Citizens
Citizens of Tanzania can apply for the Indian e-Medical Visa online prior to their departure:
- Requirements: A valid Tanzanian passport (at least 6 months validity), passport-size photographs, and an official Visa Invitation Letter (VIL) from a recognized treating hospital in India.
- VIL Facilitation: Massvaa Care coordinates with the partner hospital to secure your VIL within 48 hours of treatment program confirmation.
- Application Link: Submit your request online at the official Indian Visa online registry. E-Visas are typically processed in 3 to 5 business days.
Flight & Travel Logistics
Direct flight services from Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi are operated by Air India (approximate flight time: 6 to 7 hours). Flight options with layovers via Addis Ababa (Ethiopian Airlines) or Middle Eastern hubs (Qatar Airways, Emirates) are also available.
Currency & Financial Guidelines
Tanzanian Shillings (TZS) are not exchangeable in India. We recommend:
- Carrying US Dollars (USD) in clean, uncreased notes (printed after 2013) for conversion to Indian Rupees (INR) at authorized desks in Delhi.
- Informing your Tanzanian bank of your travel dates to ensure your international credit/debit cards are cleared for transactions in India.
- Initiating SWIFT wire transfers directly to the partner hospital's corporate account for deposit clearance.
