Clinical Overview & Background
Dr K.R. Vasudevan heads the liver transplant and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery team at JP Max Super Speciality Hospital, Sector 128, Noida (formerly Jaypee Hospital). He trained in surgical gastroenterology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi and has held visiting fellowships at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute in Pittsburgh and the Columbia Presbyterian transplant centre in New York. He previously worked at PSRI Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital.
What he treats
Living donor and deceased donor liver transplantation, paediatric liver disease, and surgery of the liver, pancreas and bile ducts, including laparoscopic pancreatic surgery and resection for liver and pancreatic cancer.
If you are being assessed for a liver transplant
Living donor transplantation needs a donor as well as a recipient, and both are assessed separately. Indian law requires documentary proof of the relationship between donor and recipient, and the hospital's authorisation committee reviews every case. Ask for that paperwork list early: it is usually the longest part of the timeline, not the surgery.
Expect the hospital to ask for recent liver function tests, viral markers, a CT or MRI abdomen on disc, endoscopy reports, and the full record of any variceal bleeding or encephalopathy. A transplant is followed by months of immunosuppression and monitoring. Settle before you travel which part of that follow-up happens in Noida and which your hepatologist at home will take over.
How Massvaa Care helps
We send your reports to the hospital, return the consultant's written opinion and an itemised estimate on hospital letterhead, and coordinate the visa invitation, arrival and accommodation. We do not give medical opinions and we do not take a share of your treatment cost. You pay the hospital directly.
Consultation slots and operating dates are set by the hospital, not by us. Ask the treating team directly about its own case volumes and expected outcomes for your condition: those are answers only the hospital can give.
